Ninoy Aquino Day 2012

Ninoy Aquino Day 2012

Today is the death anniversary of the assassination of  Benigno Aquino Jr., who was shot at the tarmac of the China Airlines plane which landed at the former Manila International Airport.  In honor of his memory, many landmarks were named after him.  Even holidays were declared in honor of his death.

Among the accomplishments of Congress in this area of honoring him was the renaming of the Manila International Airport to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) by virtue of Repubic Act No. 6639.  Other holidays were proclaimed in his honor.  Among them are Section 1. 2. of Republic Act No. 9492, and Section 2 b) of Republic Act No. 9849.

I hope Filipinos would emulate his struggle for social justice in their own small way in whatever station in life they are in.
